History of the Patch

VA-130
Burke Composite Squadron
Version 2

  • The two triangles with stars on top represent Emergency Services and the Cadet Program, two of the three missions of the Civil Air Patrol.

  • The Shuttle, whose wings bear the squadron’s charter number of 45130, represents the third mission of CAP, Aerospace Education. This mission is what allows CAP cadets to rise above the rest, and takes them into the next century with the vast amount of knowledge that they gain.

  • The color blue represents the vigilance of all Civil Air Patrol members. That is why we say "Always vigilant" when we fall out of formation. After all, it is the CAP motto.

  • The red represents the valor of the United States Air Force.

  • The lightning bolts near the bottom symbolize the two 'power houses' behind our squadron. The Cadets and the Seniors. Together, these two groups make CAP what it is today.

  • Of course, the VA represents our wing, Virginia. All cadets should wear this patch with pride, and be able to tell what it represents.
