Version 1

The Squadron 209 patch was designed in 1999 by Shawn Stanford, and contains two main elements...
Wyvern - A wyvern is a type of dragon, which symbolizes strength and bravery, the wings also implies speed. The wyvern was chosen because of the alliterative tie-in to the squadron name: WYoming Valley = WYVern. The wyvern's eye is rescue orange to show that he is always watching for emergencies. His foot is atop the keystone to show that his reach covers the entire state.
Keystone - Symbolic of Pennsylvania, it is bordered in orange symbolizing Pennsylvania Wing's long and distinguished involvement as a cornerstone of Search and Rescue.
