The Syracuse Cadet Squadron's distinctive unit patch was approved in 2004 by New York Wing Commander, Col Austyn W Granville Jr, for uniform wear. It was designed by C/Lt Col Charlsie Brooks.
Heraldry
The torch symbolizes our link to Central New York Group, whose unit patch includes a similar torch.
The snake symbolizes our relationship with the 174th Fighter Wing, NYANG. Their tail art includes a similar snake.
The sword represents strength: mental, physical, and in spirit.
The black background represents constancy, dignity, and determination. These traits can be linked to CAP's motto, Semper Vigilans, and the core values of integrity, volunteer service, and excellence.
The grey in the border represents discretion and humility. These traits can be linked to CAP's core value of respect.
The blue in both the "contrails" and the border represents the sky, the theater of CAP air operations.
The patch is round with lower and upper rockers, per Air Force heraldry guidelines. The full circle portion is 2.5" in diameter, with 3/8" rockers.
