History of the Patch

FL-010
Group 7 Headquarters
Version 1

The design was created after a group realignment in 2000. The, then commander, Maj William "Bill" Lynch (now Lt Col) asked me to sit down with him to design a patch.

The panther is a Florida Panther, which is primarily unique to the Everglades, an area in which Group 7 covered.

Not very visible in the patch, the collar around the panther has a black and white checkered pattern. This was symbolic of our headquarters host, the 93d Fighter Wing "Makos" out of Homestead ARB.

The number "7" is obviously for the group.

The white triangle with three bladed propeller is of course representative of the Civil Air Patrol.

The image of Florida with a red lower "tip" denotes the command coverage of the Group.
